Setup guide

Six steps, and the first audit is free.

Connecting takes a couple of minutes and needs no configuration in HubSpot: no property to create, nothing to install in your portal, no field mapping. Tendal is an outside reader.

  1. Check you can approve the connection

HubSpot only lets a super admin grant an app access to a portal. If you are not one, the approval screen in step 3 will refuse you, so it is worth checking first under Settings, Users and Teams.

  2. Start the connection

Use the button below, or the Install button on Tendal's marketplace listing. Both land in the same place. You do not create a Tendal account or pick a password first: the HubSpot connection is the account.

  3. Choose the portal and approve the scopes

HubSpot asks which portal to connect and lists what Tendal may read. Approve it and you are returned to Tendal. If you have several portals, this is the moment the choice is made, so check the account name at the top of the screen.

  4. Read the first audit

Tendal scans immediately: no queue, no waiting for an overnight job. Expect under a minute on a small portal and a few minutes on a large one. When it finishes you are looking at your own numbers, and this first audit is free.

  5. Point the alerts somewhere (optional)

On the portal page, open Alert channels and add a destination: an email address, or an incoming-webhook URL from Slack, Discord or Google Chat. A webhook has to be an https URL. Use Test to send a message straight away, so you find out now rather than on the day something changes.

  6. Subscribe to keep it watching

The free audit is one snapshot. A subscription is what re-scans every week, builds the trend and sends the alerts. Subscribe from the portal page, because that is the only place that knows which portal is being paid for.

Prices exclude VAT. Paddle is the merchant of record and handles VAT and invoicing.

What you need

Requirements, in full.

  • A HubSpot account, and super admin rights on the portal you connect.
  • Any HubSpot tier. Some signals need a higher plan, and where one is unavailable the audit says so instead of guessing.
  • Nothing installed, nothing built, no developer involved.
  • An email address, or a Slack, Discord or Google Chat webhook, only if you want alerts.
When it does not go smoothly

The five things that actually come up.

The approval screen says I do not have permission

You are not a super admin on that portal. HubSpot, not Tendal, enforces this. Ask a super admin to run steps 2 and 3; once connected, anyone you give the link to can read the result.

Some figures say the signal is missing

Several scopes are optional, and a few are Enterprise-only, notably login history. Rather than guess, Tendal names what it could not measure and leaves those users out of the recommendation. The audit is still valid; it is simply narrower.

I declined the workflows scope

That is a supported choice and nothing else breaks. You lose the automation signals: which workflows enrol sequences and whose inbox they send from. Everything about seats, activity and cost still works.

A scan failed

Usually a revoked token, which happens if the app was removed in HubSpot or a super admin was deactivated. Reconnect with step 2; your history is kept. If it keeps failing, write to us with the portal id from the top right of any HubSpot screen.

I want Tendal gone

Use Disconnect on the portal page. It removes the app from your HubSpot account and deletes the connection, the alert channels, the trend and the log in the same action. Removing it yourself under connected apps in HubSpot cuts our access immediately, and we delete our side the first time we notice.

Anything else, write to hello@tendal.io with the portal id. A person answers.
